A graduate of Orvis School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Joan began her rural nursing career in Yerington. She worked as a charge nurse in Yerington and did per-diem work in Gardnerville, Battle Mountain and Hawthorne for 10 years. Her commitment to quality health care led her into graduate studies in geriatrics and health care administration and from the clinical setting into administration. She served as the assistant administrator at South Lyon Medical Center and then for 17 years was that facility’s administrator.

Ms. Hall has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Nevada Governor’s Committee for the Development of a Strategic Plan for Rural Healthcare, Western Nevada Community College Yerington Advisory Board, and High Sierra Area Health Education Board of Directors. She has also served as the board chairwoman of Nevada Rural Hospital Partners (NRHP), Nevada Hospital Association (NHA), and Liability Cooperative of Nevada (LiCON).

Ms. Hall was honored by the March of Dimes in 1991 as Nevada’s Rural Nurse of the Year and in 2007 as the Northern Nevada Administrative Healthcare Hero.

In January of 2011, Ms. Hall became the president of NRHP and LiCON.
