Bob Schaich

 

Bob SchaichBob Schaich is senior vice president and chief information officer for UnitedHealthcare of Nevada, a diversified health care services company based in Las Vegas; and Southwest Medical Associates, Nevada’s largest multi-specialty medical group.

Bob has been a leader in the application of electronic commerce in the health care industry and specializes in clinical and managed care automation. At UnitedHealthcare, he has led Nevada in the innovation and application of new clinical technology including e-prescribing, digital radiology and an enterprise-wide Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in addition to core managed care and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications. In 2009, he was appointed by the governor to the Nevada Blue Ribbon Task Force on Health Information Technology and has been a key player in the development of a Health Information Exchange for the state. In 2011, he was nominated for CIO/CTO of the Year Award from the Technology Business Alliance of Nevada.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Bob was the national director of Health Insurance and Managed Care Technology Solutions at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Prior to joining PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bob served as vice president of claim cost management and operations strategy at UnitedHealthcare, MetraHealth, and The Travelers. He was the chairman of the Financial Implications Subcommittee of the Workgroup for EDI and also served as the director of strategic planning for the health care business at EDS.

Bob has served on the board of directors for the North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, the Las Vegas chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals and was the chairman of the UNLV Executive Advisory Board for the MIS Department and past president of the TriZetto Customer Group. He is currently Treasurer of the Board for HealtHIE Nevada and a member of the board of directors for HealthInsight, Health Plan of Nevada, Sierra Health and Life Insurance Company, and PacifiCare of Nevada.

Bob earned an MBA from the University of Hartford and a Master of Arts in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
