Christine Bond-Carafelli
Christine Bond-Carafelli is the Executive Director of the Health Services Coalition (HSC). HSC is comprised of 22 self-insured employer groups and union health trust fund organizations who collectively provide health benefits for approximately 280,000 lives in Southern Nevada and is the second largest payor organization in the State of Nevada. One of HSC’s primary focus’ is to maintain a hospital provider network, with the highest quality care, at the most cost-effective rates to the Coalition member organizations.
Christine has an extensive background in the healthcare administration and managed care. In 1999, Christine was the Director of Participant and Provider Services for ESEA Health Trust (previous CCSD self-funded Health Trust), whereby, she was responsible for day-to-day operations and resolution of participant and provider issues, including hospital, physician, pharmacy, vision and dental. She was also responsible for the management of program initiatives, ie: benefit design and cost-saving strategies. In 2001, Christine became the Network Development and Contracts Manager for Health Plan of Nevada/Sierra Health, whereby her responsibilities included contract negotiations and management of the HMO, POS, PPO, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid HMO and two self-funded provider networks. After her time with HPN/Sierra Health, she became the Director of Managed Care for North Vista Hospital and was responsible for all hospital contract negotiations and relations with the managed care payors in the market. Most recently, Christine was with Kindred Hospitals of Las Vegas. She began her tenure with Kindred Hospitals of Las Vegas as Director of Managed Care. After a year and a half, entered into and completed Kindred’s 1-year Hospital Administration Executive Fellowship Program and was appointed CEO of Kindred Hospital of Las Vegas – Sahara Campus.
Christine has lived in Las Vegas for 35 years and is an alumni of UNLV. Christine’s experience from both the payor and provider sides of the Las Vegas healthcare industry provide her with a unique skill set and perspective for her Health InSight role.
